Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our guides and calculators.

What is Save Money To Invest and what does it offer for the UAE?
Save Money To Invest is a free platform of financial data and calculators. The UAE section brings together personal finance guides (no income tax, the end-of-service gratuity, the AECB credit score, Islamic and conventional banks, UAE mortgages, ILOE) and financial calculators in dirhams (AED). No sign-up or account is needed.
Why are the calculators in dirhams?
Because the dirham is the currency here, and it is pegged to the US dollar at 3.6725. All calculators and articles use dirhams directly, with no currency conversion.
Is there a state pension for expats in the UAE?
No. Expatriates get an end-of-service gratuity — a one-off lump sum on leaving a job (21 days' basic pay per year for the first five years, 30 days per year after, capped at two years). There is no monthly state pension, so your retirement plan is what you build yourself. UAE nationals have the GPSSA pension. See the gratuity calculator and the retirement article.
Is Save Money To Invest free in the UAE?
Yes. All content — guides and calculators — is free and requires no sign-up. The site is funded by advertising.
Can I see the full site in US English?
Yes. Save Money To Invest also offers data from more than 10 global exchanges (NYSE, NASDAQ, LSE, Euronext, among others) and 17 financial calculators focused on the United States market. Reach them via the "🇺🇸 English (US) site" link at the top of this page.
