Everything you need to know about our guides and calculators.
- What is Save Money To Invest and what does it offer for Malaysia?
- Save Money To Invest is a free platform of financial data and calculators. The Malaysia section brings together personal finance guides (savings accounts, the EPF, PIDM deposit insurance, banks, credit cards) and financial calculators in ringgit (MYR). No sign-up or account is needed.
- Why are the calculators in ringgit?
- Because the ringgit is the currency here. All calculators and articles use Malaysian ringgit directly, with no currency conversion.
- Does Malaysia have a state pension?
- For private-sector workers, the main scheme is the Employees Provident Fund (EPF / KWSP) — a savings pot, not a lifelong pension. You contribute 11% of wages and your employer adds 12-13%, the fund pays an annual dividend of around 5-6%, and you can withdraw from age 55. Civil servants have a separate pension. See the EPF calculator and the retirement article.
- Is there unemployment benefit in Malaysia?
- Yes — the Employment Insurance System (EIS / SIP), run by SOCSO since 2018, pays a temporary Job Search Allowance to employees who are retrenched (not to those who resign). It replaces part of your wage for 3-6 months, capped at an assumed monthly wage of RM 6,000. An emergency fund is still the main safety net.
- Is Save Money To Invest free in Malaysia?
- Yes. All content — guides and calculators — is free and requires no sign-up. The site is funded by advertising.
- Can I see the full site in US English?
- Yes. Save Money To Invest also offers data from more than 10 global exchanges (NYSE, NASDAQ, LSE, Euronext, among others) and 17 financial calculators focused on the United States market. Reach them via the "🇺🇸 English (US) site" link at the top of this page.
